Frank Beard of rock band ZZ Top was born in Frankston, Texas.
Ironically, Frank Beard is the only musician in the band who does NOT sport a long beard. Beard began playing drums with fellow bandmates Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill in 1969.
Frankston has the distinction of producing two Baylor University Presidents.
William H. White, and later, his cousin and fellow Frankstonite Herbert H. Reynolds.
Frankston received its monikor instead from a young female benefactor named Frankie Miller, who donated land surrounding Samuel and Martha Miller’s original plantation house for a new town site when the railroad was built in 1900. The new town was named Frankston in her honor.

October 10th marked the 40th anniversary of the first Square Fair Event in downtown Frankston.
This much-anticipated annual celebration kicked off with a parade that each year draws participants from throughout the community and neighboring areas, replete with marching bands, decorated floats and patriotic themes.
The central park square was once again the scene for a full day of live music, games, and fine fare (Southern style, of course).
The community of Frankston welcomed anyone and everyone who joined inn this traditional celebration.
